As we continue celebrating the fifth year of the Teaching Academy, we reflect on the achievements of more than 130 scholars across ten Academy tracks, along with the programs and educational projects that continue to advance Dr. Tietjen’s vision for teaching, mentorship, and lifelong learning.
Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. Tietjen on her birthday, June 30, a day officially recognized by CT Governor Ned Lamont since 2023 as “Patricia A. Tietjen, MD Teaching Academy Day.”
Our Teaching Academy is purposefully named after Dr. Patricia A. Tietjen.
Dr. Tietjen is remembered by her colleagues as a lifelong learner and teacher, a person of integrity, and a mentor to colleagues across the disciplines. She was a true servant leader, inspiring others with her strong moral compass, a spirit of humility, and dedication to patient advocacy. Dr. Tietjen believed passionately in the need for a Teaching Academy at Northwell Health.
