This optional writing workshop is offered every 2nd Friday from 7:30-9am.
Shut Up & Write sessions (monthly online academic writing sessions), are another offering the Teaching Academy has for scholars to cross collaborated with each other sharing their expertise and knowledge and developed innovative teaching and education approaches.
Until now, Shut Up & Write sessions have been offered only to PATMDTA Scholars. Starting in September 2026, we are excited to welcome friends of the Teaching Academy, Northwell colleagues, and anyone looking for a productive, collaborative space to make progress with their writing, scholarly work, or professional projects.

“As an Inaugural Scholar, I utilized SU&W to set goals for my scholarly project, complete literature reviews, create materials, and complete PATMDTA requirements such as writing abstracts and drafting posters. Many continuing scholars continue to attend to maintain progress towards their scholarly projects or complete other scholarly or other work-related “to dos.” Logging in with other scholars is highly motivating, as others share their own personal goals, progress, and intended outcomes. The mid-session break allows for group collaboration and reflection. There have been some very powerful troubleshooting and informal mentoring conversations in SU&W sessions! All attendees benefit from the collective wisdom and encouragement in these sessions.”
