Celebrating the 2026 PATMDTA Grand Rounds and Academic Symposium – June 10th, 2026, Vassar Brothers Medical Center

June 10 marked an exciting milestone for the Patricia A. Tietjen, MD Teaching Academy.

The 5th Annual Academic Symposium featured presentations from more than 50 PATMDTA scholars, highlighting the wide range of educational projects taking place across our community. The day brought people together to learn from one another, share ideas, and strengthen connections.

Beyond presenting their work, scholars took time to attend sessions, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.

Geoff Stetson, MD’s Grand Rounds presentation on MedEdMentor explored how AI can support health professions educators in conducting more theory-informed scholarship, sparking meaningful discussion about the future of educational research.

Scholar of the Year Recognition

This year also marked the introduction of a new and meaningful recognition: the inaugural PATMDTA Scholar of the Year Award, honoring exceptional contributions to the community.

Selected by members of the PATMDTA Community of Practice, this award recognizes an individual for excellence in clinical education and outstanding contributions to teaching and learning.

Featured Presentation: Robert Storck, MPA, EMS-I: Lessons from Both Sides of the Bedside

Robert Storck, MPA, EMS-I, presented virtually to the audience, drawing on his experiences as both a provider and a patient. His message focused on the importance of empathy, communication, and flexibility in healthcare.

This year also introduced the Ride the Wave Award, which recognizes scholars for resilience, passion, and compassion in clinical education. Robert Storck, MPA, EMS-I, received the award in recognition of his impact and dedication to supporting others through education.
